Shelter
2025
Book
Where is the safe place? Where can you hide from the threat that permanently overtakes you, that instills overwhelming fear? Where you will not be found, not be recognized, not be judged?
Disguise yourself, blend in, dissolve. Immerse yourself in contemplation and inaction. Pretend it doesn't exist. Give in to escapism in order to survive. Or dare. Show up. Accept the challenge.
To withdraw to the periphery, to lie low, to quiet the heartbeat, to hold my breath, to listen… And to find the answer somewhere inside.
Dangerous journey over rugged ice, through dense forests, towards silence. To keep searching, to keep running. To stop, but remember that there is not much time. To become tree bark, a cold block, a sea wind. Become your own shelter, turn space into a field of play, transform, transfigure.
The shelter is unstable, but hidden from the eyes of others, from mistakes, from uncompromising history. It is vulnerable. But without it, it is impossible to preserve oneself. It is ephemeral and abstract, but it is the boundary that separates us from disaster.
Digital installation
Natural spaces and objects are seen as the landscape of the inner home, and the game of hide and seek as an attempt to merge with the silence and serenity of the place. How does the inner child searching for its roots meet with homelessness and confusion? Might it be better to mimic natural objects in order to transform naivety and lostness into reclusiveness and solitude?
